Little Shasha

A multigenerational, single-camera sitcom about growing up Haitian in the 90's in the ghetto suburbs of Irvington, New Jersey.

Written by: Shakirah DeMesier

  • It's 1993 in Irvington, NJ: a charming but crumbling ghetto suburb.  Black American ghetto's have long been the epicenter of cool, especially in the 90's. It was the height of Jordans, Adidas, LL cool J ... it's a culture that Black immigrants know nothing of. This story is about Little Shasha, a first generation Haitian preteen who desperately wants to be a part of cool Black American culture while trying to find a symbiotic relationship with her own. Throughout the series we see her defend, neglect and come to terms with who she is and who she wants to be.
